Eric Fischl Art Research

This paper mainly studies the art of American Neo Expressionist painter Eric Fischl,from the historical background of his early artistic creation to representative works of his mid career,and a comprehensive review of his current creative state.Through the study of Fischl ’s extensive foreign literature and painting works,this paper discusses his art and creative methods.This article is divided into five chapters:Chapter 1 reviews Fischl ’s artistic journey,analyzes and discusses the reasons for his artistic formation in the context of the larger era;Chapter 2 discusses the language characteristics of oil painting through specific works;Chapter 3 focuses on his creative methods and artistic concepts;Chapter 4 argues the relationship between Fischl ’s oil painting,printmaking,and sculpture;Chapter 5 discusses the influence of Fischl ’s art by comparing it with contemporary artists.This paper adopts methods such as literature review,case study,survey interviews,and painting practice.Deeply explore the reasons for the formation of Fischl ’s art,divide his artistic creations into several major series according to time nodes,and focus on discussing his exploration form,exploring the characteristics of Fischl ’s oil painting art language.It reveals his process from exploring early abstract art to later concrete expression.From the essential elements of painting such as brushstrokes and color space,to the brilliant construction of image forms,from real-life experiences to artistic creation concepts,this study explores Fischl ’s creative approach.Especially his method of using photos as creative materials to discuss the uniqueness of his creations.Research has shown that Fischl ’s use of Photoshop to manipulate,capture,and create scenes from photos is an important means of his creativity.In addition,this article also discusses the influence of travel,social events,and personal growth experiences on his creations.Several of his representative works are inspired by his travels.Fischl not only created oil paintings but also created printmaking and sculpture.The article also focuses on exploring the relationship between Fischl ’s oil paintings,printmaking,and sculpture,which influence each other in creative techniques and are interconnected in subject matter content.Previous research in China has largely overlooked Fischl ’s talent in sculpture and printmaking.It is precisely because he simultaneously explored three art forms that his oil painting features emerged.At the end of the article,the main focus is on Fischl ’s artistic influence.By comparing his works with those of contemporary art masters,this article analyzes the similarities and differences in their artistic creations,as well as the creative inspiration he brings to Chinese artists through his creative methods and artistic concepts.
