The Research On Marxist Thought Of Mitchell’s Feminism

In the early 1960 s,feminists turned to Marxism to explore women’s liberation and sought a more suitable theoretical basis for the development of feminism.Mitchell published "Women: The Longest Revolution" in the New Left Review,a Marxist magazine at that time,in which she made a new analysis and comment on the classic Marxist theory of female liberation,and criticized the phenomenon that capitalism and patriarchy worked together to oppress women.When the Marxist school of feminism came to the fore in the feminist movement,this article quickly developed into an important ideological impetus,and played a positive theoretical role in the movement as the action program of the women’s liberation movement,that is,the new feminist movement.As a Marxist,Mitchell rationally criticized the spiritual meaning of the family,so the slogan lacks realism.Mitchell opposed to simply attributing women’s survival dilemma to capitalist class oppression,and believed that gender oppression caused by patriarchy was also ubiquitous and existed in women’s social production and family life just like class oppression.Therefore,she put forward the dualistic theory that the oppression of women is caused by the joint action of capitalism and patriarchy.She believes that the elimination of patriarchal oppression and the elimination of capitalist oppression must be carried out at the same time,because they both cause the essence of female exploitation and oppression.She divides the content of female oppression into four structures: production,reproduction,sexual relations and socialization of children.Her main point of view is that women’s liberation can only be achieved by eliminating the oppression of the four structures and changing the overall social structure at the same time.Only when the social structure is changed,can women participate in social public labor without being affected by family relations,and can obtain the right to lead and choose in family life and social production,which is the right direction of female liberation.The emancipation and development of women is a process of excavating,discovering,revising and exploring the development direction through the accumulation of history.Marxism of feminism is the product of this historical process and the theoretical weapon produced in the process of women seeking liberation and development.When feminism has gradually become a perspective and method for women to look at the world and think about problems,what we need to do is not to blindly look for the existence of exploitation and oppression,but to uncover its expression form through our interpretation of oppression in production and life.The enrichment of feminism thought combined with the development needs of theory of feminist ideas and Mitchell,trying to the development of feminism provides a new perspective of marxism,Increase the strategic nature of feminist thinking.The emancipation of women is not to liberate her from a certain relationship,but to enrich her relationship and realize its value,so that she is not limited to a certain relationship and can freely choose her own development
