Stress is everywhere in modern society, economic, academic, employment, interpersonal relationship, are important triggers for college students to produce psychological stress.Being in a state of psychological stress for a long time will increase negative emotions, and if not regulated timely, college students will have a psychological imbalance. In recent years, extreme behaviors such as the suicides of college students are frequent, which are mostly triggered by negative emotions brought by psychological stress. Therefore, the emotional reactions brought by psychological stress are closely related to the physiological health, psychological development, and social interaction of college students. This study implements the spirit of the document "Notice on Strengthening the Management of Students’ Mental Health" issued by the General Office of the Ministry of Education, and explores the feasibility and effectiveness of physical exercise as a reasonable coping method from the perspective of emotional regulation for the group of high psychologically stressed college students,to give full play to the multiple functions of physical exercise in improving students’ health and promoting overall human development. This thesis focuses on the core issue of the influence of physical exercise on emotional regulation and selects representative college students with high psychological stress as the objects. The physical activity rating Scale,Mood State Scale, and Psychological Stress Scale of Chinese College Students are used to investigate the physical exercise, emotional state, and psychological stress levels of 494 college students.Based on exploring the negative influence of physical exercise on psychological stress,47 college students with high psychological stress levels(22 in the control group and 25 in the experimental group)were selected for the experiment.Among them, the experimental group carried out the intervention of a skipping rope group exercise lasting 40 minutes three times a week for 12 weeks.According to the experimental logic of "Pre-test-Intervention-Post-test",Using Stroop task,Oddball task, combination task combined with ERP technology to study the involved "emotional attention, emotional intensity perception, emotional regulation",fully explore the internal causes of the impact of physical exercise on the emotional regulation of high psychological stress college students. This study consists of the following four parts:Study 1:The relationship between psychological stress and the emotional state of college students, and the intrinsic regulation mechanism of physical exercise. The results showed that there was a significant negative correlation between physical exercise and the psychological stress of college students(r=-0.637).There was a significant negative correlation between physical exercise and emotional state(r=-0.032).There was a significant positive correlation between psychological stress and emotional state(r=0.51).Physical exercise had a negative moderating effect between psychological stress and emotional state(B=-0.012,ΔR2=0.007).Study 2:The effect of physical exercise on the emotional attention of high psychologically stressed college students. The results showed that:(1)The reaction time of psychologically stressed college students under the condition of negative emotion was significantly less than that under the condition of neutral and positive emotion.(2)After physical exercise intervention, the response time under the condition of negative emotion was significantly less than that before intervention and control group.(3)After physical exercise intervention, the response time of emotional attention and vigilance in the experimental group was significantly greater than that in the control group, and the response time of emotional disengagement was significantly less than that in the control group.(4)The average amplitude and latency of N2 under positive emotion conditions were higher than those under negative and neutral conditions, but there was no significant difference between groups.(5)After the physical exercise intervention, the average amplitude of P3 measured before was significantly lower than that measured after the negative emotion, and the latency of P3 was not significantly different under each emotion condition.Study 3:The effect of physical exercise on the perceived emotional intensity of high psychologically stressed college students. The results showed that:(1)The experimental group showed a significant decrease in response time to positively conditioned deviant stimuli after the intervention, while there was no significant change in response time to the negative condition.(2)The experimental group showed a significant difference in positive and negative response time after 12 weeks of physical exercise intervention generation was significantly smaller than before the intervention.(3)The mean wave amplitude of P2,N2,and P3 individual latencies were significantly different in the condition main effect.(4)In the positive condition, the group main effect was significant, and the P2 latency of the control group was smaller than the experimental group;the interaction effect of condition time was significant, and the extreme positive post-intervention latency was significantly greater than the other two conditions;N2 wave amplitude latency in the control group was significantly smaller than the experimental group.P3 mean wave amplitude in the control group was significantly larger than the experimental group.(5)In the negative condition,N2 wave amplitude latency in the control group was significantly smaller than the experimental group;P3 mean wave amplitude in the control group was significantly larger than the experimental group;control P3 wave amplitude latency was significantly smaller than that of the experimental group.Study 4:The effects of physical exercise on emotion regulation and subsequent cognitive control in high psychologically stressed college students. The results showed that:(1)The interaction of subjective mood ratings after emotion regulation was significant, and the pretest validity in the experimental group was greater than the post-test in the expression inhibition condition;(2)The interaction of subjective arousal ratings after emotion regulation was significant, and the pretest arousal was greater than the post-test in the experimental group; The pretest arousal was smaller than the post-test in the cognitive reappraisal negative condition, and the pretest arousal was larger than the post-test in the expression inhibition negative condition;(3)The response-time interference scores of the posttest were significantly larger than the post-test in the experimental group on different emotion regulation conditions.(4)On LPP wave amplitude, the main effect of emotion regulation was significant, and the mean wave amplitude of viewing neutrality was significantly smaller than the mean wave amplitude of expression suppression negativity;the mean wave amplitude of viewing negativity was significantly smaller than expression suppression negativity on the pretest and the mean wave amplitude of cognitive reappraisal negativity was significantly smaller than viewing negativity and expression suppression negativity on the posttest in the experimental group;(5)On P3 interaction was significant, with the experimental group having significantly larger wave amplitudes on the congruent condition than the incongruent condition;the P3 interference scores showed that the interference scores of the control group were significantly higher than those of the experimental group, and the interference scores of the experimental group before the intervention were significantly larger than those after the intervention. In summary, this study concludes that:(1)The higher the level of psychological stress among college students, the more negative their emotional states are,and physical exercise can attenuate the negative effects of psychosocial stress on emotional states.(2)The high Psychologically stressed college students show more negative emotional attention bias and have less ability to alert and disengage from negative emotional attention.Through physical exercise, high psychologically stressed college students can use sufficient and effective cognitive resources for attentional processing of emotional information.(3)Physical exercise intervention can improve the inhibitory ability of high psychologically stressed individuals to conflict with high-intensity emotions. However, the neurophysiological effects of different intensity emotional stimuli on psychologically stressed college students are greater.(4)Both expression inhibition and cognitive reappraisal are effective in regulating emotions, with cognitive reappraisal being more effective.Inhibition of negative emotions triggers greater neuro electrophysiological activity, while cognitive reappraisal by individuals after physical exercise further attenuates the neuro electrophysiological activity generated by negative emotions.(5)High psychological stress triggers higher levels of negative emotions, and individuals have poor cognitive control over conflict tasks in the absence of regulation of negative emotions. However, physical exercise can reduce the impact of cognitive resource control after emotion regulation in high psychologically stressed college students and has a significant protective effect on the cognitive control resources of individuals.
