Teachers can affect students’ cognition,motivation,and performance.Teachers with high emotional intelligence can establish a supportive and positive relationship with students,and they will become role models for students,improve students’ motivation for learning,and promote the potential of students to a greater extent.Emotional awareness can help teachers recognize their own and students’ emotional changes.Good management of emotion and adjustment strategies help teachers manage teacher-student relationships and regulate emotions in a healthy way.Excellent emotional expression allows teachers to resolve conflicts and problems timely.So emotional intelligence help teachers reduce burnout,improve happiness,and improve student performance.Pre-service teachers will be the main force for cultivating talents.At present,their training plans attach great importance to mastering basic skills such as professional knowledge,and they do not pay enough attention to the cultivation of emotional intelligence.The growth of each teacher is unique,but it is a common phenomenon to experience frustration at the novice stage.This frustration is not due to the lack of cognitive factors such as professional knowledge or teaching skills.The blow often comes from the disillusionment that reality does not match imagination.Normal college students are not psychologically ready to become teachers,and the lack of attention to their emotional intelligence can have adverse consequences.There is no complete set of training courses for normal student’ emotional intelligence and emotional regulation.Whether the normal students’emotional intelligence and well-being is high or low,whether group intervention can become an effective means to cultivate emotional intelligence,improve the use of healthy emotional regulation strategies,and improve happiness?These issues needs to be explored.Study 1 analyzes the general status of normal students’ emotional intelligence,emotional regulation strategies and well-being,and the relationship between these factors.Study 2 conducts cognitive reappraisal groups for normal students and explores the effects of intervention.Study 1 investigated the emotional intelligence,emotional regulation strategies,life satisfaction,and flourishing of 985 normal college students,and analyzed the impact of demographic variables and the relationships between this variables.Study 2 conducted cognitive reappraisal groups for 13 normal students.The control groups with 14 normal students had no special treatment.The study compared the differences between the two groups.The findings are as follows:(1)Normal students’ emotional intelligence,cognitive reappraisal,life satisfaction and flourishing scores are higher than the median value,expression suppression scores are lower than the median value.Female’s emotional intelligence and reappraisal scores are higher than male.College students who served as class cadres and chose liberal arts have higher scores in emotional intelligence and flourishing.(2)Emotional intelligence,cognitive reappraisal are significantly positively related to life satisfaction and flourishing,and expression suppression is not significantly related to flourishing.Emotional intelligence and cognitive reappraisal can significantly predict life satisfaction and flourishing,and expression suppression can predict life satisfaction and cannot predict flourishing.(3)Compared with the control group,the intervention group’s scores of cognitive reappraisal,life satisfaction,and flourishing were significantly improved,and the emotional intelligence scores were not significantly changed.The conclusions of the study are as follows:(1)Normal students’ emotional intelligence is at the upper-middle level.Students use more reappraisal and less suppression,and that is a healthy strategies.Emotional intelligence and regulation strategies will be affected by gender and whether or not they are class leaders.(2)Normal students have a high level of happiness.Emotional intelligence and reappraisal can effectively predict happiness,and expression suppression cannot predict psychological happiness.(3)Cognitive reappraisal training can effectively improve participants’ use of cognitive reappraisal strategies,improve the level of happiness,and cannot affect emotional intelligence. |
