Study Of Water Resources Management Temporal GIS Based On ArcGIS Server

Temporal GIS is an emerging area of geographic information system (GIS), it can help users track and analyze the development of physical objects with time variation. This is great significance to describe object changed and predict future trends. In recent years, with the rapid development and widely application of GIS, water resources management geographic information system (WRMGIS) has also been a great development. However, WRMGIS still has a series of difficulties in such areas as the interoperation and share of water resources space data among many sources and different structures, the analysis of the temporal information of water resources based on GIS, etc. The temporal GIS technology based on Server consisting of Server GIS technology and temporal GIS technology helps settle the above problems from a brand-new viewpoint. The thesis introduces temporal GIS technology based on Server into WRMGIS, focuses on how to achieve a prototype of the WRMGIS by temporal GIS technology based on Server.Theory of water resources management temporal geographic information system (WRMTGIS) based on ArcGIS is temporal GIS and Server GIS. Therefore, the conception, function and principle of the technologies employed by temporal GIS, temporal database and Server GIS are introduced in detail. Several current major temporal data models which are compared and evaluated in many aspects are analyzed.Spatio-temporal data model of water resources is the core of WRMTGIS. Based on analysis of temporal information characteristics of water resources, the model of base state with amendments is further studied and improved in the research, and then model of amendments with various states and dynamic intervals is proposed. Based on these, temporal spatial database of TGIS of water resources management is createdAccording to the information characteristics of water resources management, architecture and Overall function of WRMTGIS based on ArcGIS Server is designed. Structure and sub-functions of each functional module are designed in detail. With ArcGIS Server JavaScript API provided by ESRI, the map service is designed, and the idea of cloud computing is introduced into the water resources information management.Based on the overall design of WRMTGIS, the framework system of.NET and architecture of ArcGIS are discussed. And with the two basic platforms, WRMTGIS is accomplished on the basis of ArcGIS Server. And the solutions to several technological difficulties in development process are mainly studied.The system adopts the integrated mode of double development. With component technology of ArcGIS Server ADF and ArcGIS Server JavaScript API, a prototype of WRMTGIS based on ArcGIS Server is developed using C# as programming language, ArcSDE as spatial data engine, SQL SERVER 2005 as database and Visual Studio 2008 as development environment.The temporal GIS based on Server solves difficulties of traditional WRMGIS in such areas as the interoperation and share of water resources space data among many sources and different structures, the analysis of the temporal information of water resources based on GIS, etc, it is an important direction of research and development of WRMGIS. In the present thesis, temporal GIS based on Server are applied in the WRMGIS, which will contribute a great deal for the development of WRMGIS.
