Based on data of thunderstorm days, lightning location and lightning disaster, by using the wavelet analysis and comentropy method, we have studied the effect of the complex earth surface on the lightning density, the vulnerability of lightning disaster, and the endure of economical damage caused by lightning. The results are showed as following:(1) From 1961 to 2008, the average thunderstorm days show a reduce tendency. Thunderstorm days reach the summit in summer occupying 73.1% of total values and the followings are Spring and Autumn. Meanwhile, from spatial distribution, the annual thunderstorm days gradually decrease from northwest to southeast of Hebei province. There are the most thunderstorm days in highlands and mountain areas of north of Hebei province.(2) The ratio of the positive to negative CG (cloud-to-ground) lightning is approximately 1/12. The distribution of lightning activities shows an obvious diurnal and seasonal variation, and the positive CG lightning flashes appears earlier for one month than negative CG lightning. Lightning happens frequently during 14-20h pm and reach the peak during 16-17h. There are the most frequent lightning flashes in the center of Hebei province, the south of the Taihang Mountain, the east of Yan Mountain, and some areas of Hebei plain.(3) The detail analysis shows that there is no obvious correlation between the CG lightning density and thunderstorm days. The lightning density predicted by the theory formula in IEC is less than our observed results. The CG lightning density and thunderstorm days are related to different geographical conditions, the inclination of high mountains have the most effects on the lightning density.(4) Based on the statistics of the lightning disasters, it is found that there are the most lightning disaster events occurring in June-August, especially in August. There are the most serious economical damage in July and the most personnel casualties events in June. The lightning disaster events in highlands of the north of Hebei province occur fewer than in the mountain areas of the west of Hebei province, and there are more lightning disaster events in the coast areas of the east of Hebei province than those in the plain areas of middle south of Hebei province. The lightning damage is more sever in city than that in suburban areas (e.g. the rural areas), and the electric power corp suffered the most lightning damages in all business lines.(5) The vulnerability and risk zoning of the lightning in Hebei province are studied for the first time, and the result indicates that the maximal damage areas exist in Tangshan, Shijiazhuang and Baoding, et al. The poorer areas in Hebei province have the feeble endure of economical damage caused by lightning.
