Research On Efficiency Evaluation Of Third Party Logistics Enterprises Based On Three-stage DEA Model

In addition to the reduction of materials consumption(the first source of enterprise profit) and the improvement of labor productivity (the second source of enterprise profit), logistics has become the third source of enterprise profit. The third party logistics faces unprecedented opportunities and challenges. So, effective third party logistics enterprises efficiency evaluation and analysis has a realistic meaning to comprehensively supervise and control enterprise resources, correctly distinguish the logistics enterprise actual operation level, rational distribute enterprises'resources and improve enterprises'core competitiveness. At the same time, the continuous development of logistics theory and practice of the deepening of the logistics objectively call for the establishment of the reasonable third party logistics enterprise efficiency evaluation index system and efficiency evaluation methods to objectively and scientifically reflect the operations of third party logistics enterprises.Firstly, this paper defines the third party logistics, then mainly introduces Three-stage DEA model, and then establishes evaluation index system in combination with the characteristics of the third party logistics enterprise. Three-stage DEA Model was used to evaluate efficiency of 22 third party logistics enterprises from 2006 to 2008 in China. The result shows that level of regional economic development, enterprise scale, established number of years, enterprise type and number of subsidiaries have significant influence on efficiency. In the third stage rejecting the environmental factor and statistical noise, the technical efficiency value declines substantially in most enterprises. The decline mainly causes by the dramatic fall in the value of scale efficiency, and the insufficient scale actually is the subject matter that restricts the third party logistics enterprises efficiency in our country. Based upon the results mentioned above, this thesis suggests how to improve the efficiency of third party logistics enterprises, enterprises'performance and competitiveness, and advices related policies.
