Study On Geological Characteristics And Metallogenesis In Kuhai Mercury Deposit, Qinghai Province

South belt of Eastern Kunlun Orogenic Belt, also named South Eastern Kunlun Composite Matching Zone, is located between central Kunlun fault and south one. It has been undergoing a complex advancing process.Kuhai palaeo-continent was formed by break up of the south margin of Qaidam massif in Pre-Caledonian. At the same time, Wanbaogou basalt plateau was formed by mantle plume movement in the Proto-Tethyan Ocean, which was far away from the south margin of Qaidam massif. Proto-Tethyan ocean crust began to subduce under Qaidam massif from south to north along the middle Kunlun fault in earth Paleozoic. In late Caledonian, Wanbaogou basalt plateau was directly converged with southern margin of Qaidam massif along middle Kunlun fault. The subductions actions stopped along middle Kunlun fault, the subduction zone moved southward to the south Kunlun fault. The Kuhai palaeocontinent converged with southern margin of Qaidam massif again. That formed eastern Kunlun south composite matching zone while Wanbaogou basalt plateau had converged. Then eastern Kunlun came into a stage of evolution of Tethyan Ocean. A'nyemaqen-Bayan Har ocean closed in early Indosinian( early Triassic), the lithosphere of eastern Kunlun began to be thickened and formed continent by uplift, then the area came into a stage of intra-continental action. Since late Indosinian the crust and mantle interacted, lithosphere delamination and mantle magma underplating were distinctive, structure system changed from extrusion to stretch, a large of mantle material and energy took part in structural- magmatic movement and metallogenesis, then eastern Kunlun came into an important Hydrothermal ore-forming period.Kuhai mercury deposit is located in the south orogenic belt of Eastern...
