With the growing geo-spatial data, more and more attention has been paid to how to achieve real-time data release on Internet. Releasing geo-spatial data on Internet enable users to obtain the distributed geographic information and realize efficient use of massive geo-spatial data. This research attempts to explore a .NET-based solution which utilizes WebGIS technology to release geo-spatial data on Internet. The differences between two technical platforms of the present web publication are compared firstly and .NET technology is adopted as the self-developed platform for geo-spatial data web publication. Subsequently, focusing on the characteristics of geo-spatial data web publication, the related technologies are analyzed and a web-oriented publication geo-spatial database model is designed which combining ArcSDE and Oracle9i to solve the storage and management of massive geo-spatial data. Certain appropriate measures, such as users' privilege limitation, data transfer, etc., are taken to ensure the data security. Finally, a solving project concerning the .NET-based WebGIS of geo-spatial data web publication is put forward which has been applied to Shaoxing geo-spatial data web publication system. The research shows that .NET-based self-developed web publication can achieve the goal of efficient usage, efficient storage and real-time release of geo-spatial data. This research can also shed some light on other web-oriented publication WebGIS system.
