The paper primarily intends to make the fluvial processes digitization, quantification in space-time and visualization based on the river channel terrain data, manage the correlative space-time data of the river channel and develop the fluvial processes information system.Using the GIS spatial analysis technology, the paper studies the method of the fluvial processes systematically based on the fundamental analysis methods of the fluvial processes. It includes building the basic digital terrain of riverbed and finding a digital analysis method to study the fluvial processes. The digital terrain model of the river channel is built according to the elevation survey points of the river. It consists of building TIN model, GRID model and contour model of the river channel. TIN model is the basis of the river channel digital terrain, and both the GRID model and contour model are originated from it.The analysis of fluvial Processes digitization mainly implements shoal quantitative analysis used by the technology of GIS. The analyses of all kinds of shoals characteristic terrain are actually the analysis of contours if we see them from plane. In this situation, some of shoals are regard as polygon objects formed with closed contours and others are regard as non-closed line objects. These non-closed lines connecting with the edge line can convert into polygon objects. The shoal evolvement module mainly measures the polygon which formed by the contours at the same elevation and implements the 2D evolvement model.
