A Preliminary Study On The Framework Of Philosophy Of Social Engineering

In order to construct philosophy of social engineering as a new branch of philosophies, not only such problems as basic concepts, included meanings, theoretical character, and crucial contents should be considered, but also the possible theoretical framework be taken seriously, because of the necessity to built a complex system. This endeavor usually is overlooked by scholars.There are such three academic fields closely related to philosophy of social engineering as social engineering, philosophy of engineering, and Marxist philosophy. So the paper distinguishes"social engineering"from"engineering"firstly and separates"social engineering"form"social technology"secondly, so as to clarify the conception of social engineering. Then, by integrating Marxist philosophy and philosophy of engineering, the paper tries to set a theoretical foundation to the framework of philosophy of social engineering.In turn, the third chapter discusses the research starting point and object of philosophy of social engineering. The following chapters respectively deal with such theses as the ontology and epistemology and methodology of philosophy of social engineering. The onta of social engineering is praxis of social engineering, which is different from the natural engineering in such aspects as objects, effects of human practices and its concerned know-how. The epistemology of philosophy of social engineering is composed of epistemological objects, ways of thinking, systems of knowledge, and systems of evaluation of social engineering. And the methodology of philosophy of social engineering includes decision and design of social project.Through these discussions, the paper argues that the philosophy of social engineering can be constructed as a relatively independent branch of philosophy.
