Data Management System For Moonlet Constellation Based On ArcGIS Components

In recent years, more and more severe environmental problems, such as ecological destruction, water and atmospheric contamination have attracted more attentions from government. It can be said that environmental problems has prevented the sustainable development of the society and the economy to a large degree. As a result, the construction of the system of monitoring environment and forecasting disaster becomes necessary. In 2000, the key project of"the system of monitoring environment and forecasting disaster by means of moonlet constellation"was approved by China National Space Administration, where one of the important components is the construction of the ground application system used to control the satellite observation performance, to send and receive the satellite signal, to process and manage satellite data and therefore to monitor the environmental variability and evaluate and forecast disasters. As a whole, the ground application system is composed by several sub-systems including data management system, ground control system, data processing system, et al. In this paper, data management system is the core of the discussion, which would take on the tasks of managing mass data effectively, safely and stably.In the paper, and general introduction about"the system of monitoring environment and forecasting disaster by means of moonlet constellation"and the techniques refer to data management including COMGIS, SDE, XML are illustrated in chapterâ… . According to the requirements for data management functions, the data management system is designed detailedly, on the basis of which, the spatial data management is developed using ArcSDE, Metadata management is developed using XML and RDB, the series functions of data browse, data maintenance, map drawing and editing, et al are developed using ArcGIS Engine and VC ++ programming language. The data management system has the features of practicality, safety, stability, compatibility and extensibility. The operation is very easy to be performed through the simple and clear data management interface. By constructing the data management system, the effective applications of moonlet constellation data would be facilitated in large extent.
