The electronic retrieval of plant is regarded as researching object in this paper, it closely combine the attribute information of plant with the character of geographical distribution to construct Xinjiang plant retrieval system which based on WebGIS. This paper contains introduction, preparatory knowledge, research methods, related technology, analysis, design, implementation, conclusions and prospects.Firstly, discussing about the importance and necessity of Xinjiang plant resources and how to take advantage them. On the basis of analyzing the present status of domestic and foreign electronic retrieval of plant to determine the content and significance of researching about the paper, and prove that it is possible to operate the system. So I can come to a conclusion that it is completely possible to research and construct the retrieval system.Secondly, introduce the basis knowledge on the plant taxonomy, and get knowledge of majoring in plant ready for the next content.Thirdly, analyze the development stage of digital methods of resources and study the use of existence tools for plants retrieval in-depth, proposing the system research methods of Xinjiang plant combined with WebGIS, database, network technology and realized by programming language.Fourthly,The related technology and tools used by developing on the retrieval system have a brief introduction.Then, adopting a standardized software development theories and methods, to analyze the demand of function requirement and non-function requirement about the system, on the basis of demanding analysis, design the total structure of the system, and detailed designed the structure of database and interface of operating of system.Finally, under the guidance of researching methods of plant retrieval system based on WebGIS, deal with the attribute data and spatial data of the plant, according to the demand of system, and put them to database; after determining the format and content of data the efficient use of the cross-platform programming language and WebGIS interface; the crucial breakthrough of the study and construction in the course of is aggregated by the final part of the part.In sum, research of system is successful, and achieved the expected goals.It have characters in the three aspects that providing a modern tool to the search for Xinjiang plant, from characters to species of discrimination, and dynamic display of species distribution. However, there still have some limitations and short comings. In three aspects: the restriction of inputing layers about the classification tables; a lack of showing the distribution of plant by mobile equipments; plant data is not complete entry.With the demands of people to retrieval system of plant further development, the system based on WebGIS will be used in greater scope, for the retrieval of other provinces plants resources have important significance in theoretical and practical undoubtedly, and will also have the value to electronic retrieval of other relevant subjects.
