In 2003,the Ministry of Education brings the inquiry learning into the field of practical activities in the middle school.At the same time,GIS has also become an integral part of high school geography courses.It has only six years since the inquiry learning and GIS actualizing in the middle school till 2009,but it is very weak about researching and demonstrating the effect of the inquiry learning and GIS,so there are a lot of exploring space for better playing the role of the inquiry learning and GIS. The study of thesis,GIS assisted geographic inquiry learning,is the specific exploring on this question.It,GIS assisted geographic inquiry learning,is very important for students to learn Geography,which makes students not only master the research methods of the inquiry learning,but also learn the theories and technologies of GIS, so the thesis is based on the above reasons to carry out the research.Firstly,through summarizing the current situation of the exploration on GIS assisted geographic inquiry learning,we find that the research is mature about the geographic inquiry learning and the geographic teaching using GIS,but it is really lack of the exploration on GIS assisted geographic inquiry learning.The thesis also discusses the theoretical basises of GIS assisted geographic inquiry learning.It analyzes the possibility and reality of GIS assisted geographic inquiry learning which based on information processing theory,constructivist learning theory and multiple intelligences theory.Secondly,combining with the questionnaire,the thesis discusses the current situation of GIS assisted geographic inquiry learning,analyzing the implementation of the conditions,advantages and problems.Through the analysis,the author concludes that,there are a very rare opportunity,more mature hardware conditions for GIS assisted geographic inquiry learning,but at the same time,it is still has a long way to go because of the problems of teachers,teaching concepts and education system.Thirdly,the thesis specifically discusses the practical application of GIS in geographic inquiry learning.It mainly analyzes how to use GIS in geographic inquiry learning,involving the methods and strategies of preparing phase,selecting phase, program designing phase,data-processing phase and the exchange of results phase. In part four,through research,it summarizes some geographic teaching modes of GIS assisted geographic inquiry learning.Depending on the different contents and methods of inquiry learning,It can be divided into four teaching modes:GIS geographic observation and experimental teaching mode,GIS geographic fieldwork teacliing mode,GIS geographic social survey teaching mode,GIS Geography modeling teaching mode.In addition,basing on the trait of different problems of inquiry learning,it can be involved GIS application mode and GIS found mode.Finally,the thesis propounds some specific conclusions and recommendations, that is,through research,the author concludes that it is feasible for GIS assisted geographic inquiry learning,but in the teaching implementation,geography teachers need positively think the GIS functions in geographic inquiry learning,and actively explore the teaching mode of GIS assisted geographic inquiry learning.At the same time in the teaching,it is necessary to constantly explore the problem of teacher training and evaluation of GIS assisted geographic inquiry learning,so as to further enhance the efficiency of GIS assisted geographic inquiry learning.
