During the whole working process of geological exploration and deposit mining, reserve calculation need to be practiced many times to meet the requirements of different stages. Thus, reserves calculation is regarded as an extremely important process in each stage of geological prospecting of solid mineral resources.SD method was born in the 1980's, it has advancement in the field of reserves calculation due to its combining geostatistics with distance power inverse ratio method and the improvement of traditional method and spline function method. The concept of structure geological variable, the method of progressive searching and the method of limit precision-SD precision method was given. Therefore, SD method can correctly grasp the limitation of sampling and determine the control degree of the project according the stage of geological working. This paper is based on the reserves calculation subject of Jiama mining area. The SD method is chose as a tool to calculate the resource extent after a thorough study of various kinds of calculation method. On this basis, the relationship of ore grade and 3-dimensional interpretation of Jiama mining area was analyzed. The main research contents of this paper are as follows:1. The relative reserve calculation methods at home and abroad were studied carefully;2. The theoretical foundation and calculation scheme of SD method were discussed;3. A detailed calculation scheme of SD method was made;4. The resource extent of Jiama mining area was estimated by SD method and traditional section method and the estimation resu??were analyzed;5. The relationship of ore grade was analyzed and the relative analysis was taken ;6. The 3-dimensional interpretation of Jiama mining area has been given through ArcGIS.
