A Taxonomic Study On The Genus Platydracus (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Staphylininae) Of China

Staphylinidae occupy a wide variety of habitats consists of forests and mountain.They feed on many kinds of food;The most species are carnivorous, also have the saprophagous and coprophagous species. There has a close relationship between Staphylinidae and human. Staphylinidae is a unneglectable natural resource.Platydracus is one genus of the subfamily Staphylinidae in the family Staphylinidae.Thomson have established the genus by in 1858 with the type species Staphylinus stercorarius Olivier.By now, 229 species of the genus have been known from the world, 23 species have been known from China.Taxonomic study of this genus is behindhand in China. Up to present, there hadn't systematic works concerning.been In world fauna, In China,there are many species of this genus , I selected it as the topic of his MS thesis. The study was based on consulting all related literature and examinations of over 200 specimens collected from a lot of places in China such as Xizang, Qinghai, Neimenggu, Zhejiang, Yunnan, Shanxi, Sichuan, Guizhou, Jiangxi, Jiangsu, Anhui, Hubei, Henan, Shanghai.Summarized the results of this study as below:1. It was the first systematic of the genus Platydracus of china mainland.2. In the study, there were recognized 20 species of the genus from China, 5 known species, 1 new recorded species and 14 new species were included.3. All the species were described detailedly, the research history, synonym, collecting data and distribution of each species. with color photos of all the species were given and have illustrated the diagnostic characters .4.
