MXO4 (M=Ca, Ba; X=Mo, W) with the scheelite structure have attract great attention. For their properties highly depend on their morphologies and sizes. So, many efforts have been focused on adjusting morphologies and sizes of above materials. In this paper, Shuttle-like and ellipsoid-like BaXO4 (X= W; Mo) hierarchical micro/ nanostructures were simply synthesized for the first time using a mixture of ethanol and water as solvent at room temperature; Using EDTA as chelating reagent, such as scissors-like, multi-pod-like, peanut-like, and flower-like BaXO4 (X= Mo; W) micro/ nanocrystals were obtained for the first time at room temperature; Different morphologies of CaMoO4 nanoparticles, such as ellipsoid-like, spindle-like, and sphere-like, were successfully achieved in a reverse microemusion system at room temperature; The products were characterized by the X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), field- emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and high-resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM). The XRD analysis showed that the preferred growth direction of the products was highly dependent on the volume ratio of water to ethanol; The morphologies of BaXO4 (X= W; Mo) hierarchical micro/nanostructures highly depended on the velocity of the released Ba2+ which was controlled by EDTA; The analytical results of SEM indicated that the W value (the molar ratio of H2O to CTAB) and the concentration of reactants played important roles in controlling the morphologies of the final CaMoO4 products; The formation mechanism of the different morphologies of the products which were synthesized by various methods mentioned above was discussed. The photoluminescence of final products was carried out on photoluminescence spectrophotometer (PL) at room temperature. The results indicated that PL properties of final products were highly dependent on their sizes and morphologies.
