First of all, the process flow of No.1 to 4 air separation units at Shanghai Coking & Chemical Co. Ltd:(SCCC Co.) is briefly introuduced. The device working of No.1 to 4 air separation units is analyzed and compared. Based on the production capability of No.1 to 4 air separation units and the demand of air separation products for SCCC Co. CO and methanol manufacturing project (No.1 project), the products'specifications of the No.1 project assorted air separation units are determined. Based on advanced air separation technology at home and abroad, the many-sided comparison have done between 60000Nm3/h and 30000Nm3/h air separation units. Finally we adopted two air separation units. And the model of No.5 and 6 for air separation units is KDON-29000/9000. They are designed and made by Hangyang. In the KDON-29000/9000 air separation unit with internal compression process, expansion air enter down tower and extracting argon without hydrogen adopts "one driving two" was adopted. It means that one industrial steam turbine drives an air turbo-compressor and a boost air compressor.The technical charateristic, the process characteristic and the equipment characteristic of KDON-29000/9000 air separation unit are analysed. To analyse avaluble energy of some major equipments, optimizing control methods are listed. The running conditions of No.5 and 6 air separation units are introduced and compared with 1-4# air separation units. And some methods of project lectotype in air separation units are extracted. The starting date of No.5 and 6 air separation units was June 6 in 2006. Qualified oxygen of No.5 air separation unit was outputed on April 2 in 2008. And No.6 was May 28 in 2008. The duration is 722 days. The reconstruction project completed and put into production over the past two years, the actual oxygen production of one KDON-29000/9000 air separation unit is 29500 Nm3/h, and nitrogen production is 9000 Nm3/h. The product quality of liquid oxygen, liquid nitrogen and argon have reached to the desired design quotas. To compare with 1-4# air separation units, the main econotechnical norms such as product purity, oxygen extraction percentage and so on have increased.
