Solidworks, ANSYS and AMESim are basic softwares in the CAE technology, which can realize the modeling, structural analysis and hydraulic system simulation of the product. This paper uses these CAE softwares to realize the strength calibration, the AGC hydraulic system simulation and mechanism simulation of the 1630 six-high Skin Pass Mill of the 2030 cold rolling mill which was newly established in BaoSteel. Meanwhile, this paper also discusses the relationships of the system model, finite-element analysis and hydraulic system simulation, which can be used in new product development, device commissioning and maintenance.The methods and technology routes of this research are established by analyzing the worldwide development trend of the Skin Pass Mill and the investigation situation of the CAE technology to find the necessity and problems need to be settled for studying the Skin Pass Mill system. The correlative parameters are obtained by modeling the mechanical system and hydraulic servo system and testing at site. Then using these parameters to verify the model by Matlab/Simulink simulation, and the theory basis of this research is gotten. That synthetically using Solidworks, ANSYS and AMESim in the system modeling, finite-element analysis and hydraulic system simulation is the innovation of this paper.The operating modes of pressing, rolling and passing welding are simulated by these multi—disciplinary softwares. The simulation results truly represent the performance index of the Skin Pass Mill during working process. By using the virtual reproduction of some malfunctions which may appear in the work site, the working efficiencies of maintenance and examination are obviously improved. By comparing the actual results measured in the site, the correlative models established in this research are proven to be reasonable and effective, and can represent the performance parameters of the Skin Pass Mill system veritably.These researches can reduce the costs of design and experimentation and shorten the period of manufacture and commissioning by modeling the virtual simulation, so they give significant meanings to study the efficiencies of test running at site of the Skin Pass Mill system.
