Baced on the research status of stiffening agent, numerous experiments and research work has been performed in this thesis. On the basis of molecular design, process optimization, formulation adjustment, made the polyacrylate emulsion with core-shell structure and the modified polyvinyl acetate emulsion with good compound performance which are applied to the fabric stiffness finishing. The influencing factors to the performance of the emulsion e.g. copolymerization monomer, protective colloid, initiator, emulsifier, reaction temperature & time, functional monomer et al, were investigated by DSC, FTIR.The main research results include:(1) The acrylates emulsion with the structure of soft core and hard shell was synthesized via pre-emulsification seeded half-successive emulsion poly-merization with good finishing performance. Optimal synthesis condition was obtained: m(NMA):m(AA)=3:4, the charge of SDS and OP-10 4.0% (o.w.f. monomer), the initiator 0.5% (o.w.f. monomer), double dripping temperature 80℃for 90min, temperature rise by 3 ~ 5℃and heat preservation for60min after adding initiator. (2) Polymerized vinyl acetate emulsion was modified by butyl aerylate and study the changes of PVAc emulsion affected by different initiation systems. Modified PVAc emulsion with good compound performance was made by using non-ionic emulsifier OP-10. Optimal synthesis condition was obtained: ratio of monomer weight m(VAc): m(BA) 9:1, protective colloid m (PVA-1788): m (PVA-1799) 1:1, 6.0% (monomer), the charge of OP-10 2.0%, the charge of SDS 0.1%, the thermal initiator APS 0.4% (monomer), redox initiator APS-NaHSO3, 0.4% and 0.04%. (3) The optimal finishing process: the dosage of emulsion 20g/L, the temperature of padding fluid 30℃, baking temperature 120℃for 3min.
