To improve lapping efficiency and workpiece parallelism, on the basic of analyzing and researching traditional lapping of doubleides lapping technolo- gy, this paper designs a double ?sides high speed lapping machine with solid abrasives and its appendixes. In the paper the strength and stiffness of the im- portant components is checked, the main spindle rotation accuracy of the ma- chine is analysed, the pneumatic, electric and speed control systems are de- signed, and the machining accuracy, quality, efficiency and cost of double ? sides lapping machine is examined through experiments. The machined surface roughness reaches RaO. 88nm; flatness 0. O7pm, parallelism 0. 01mm. The machining efficiency increase 30 -- 100 times, the cost of abrasives is reduced 60 ~ And the method of selecting lapping parameters is given. From the re- sult of experiments, it can be known that the machining accuracy of the ma- chine comes to the point of namometer level.
