As the development of wire and cable industry, the conventional mon-material has some difficulties to meet all requirements of high conductivity, brazing, good anti-corrosion property, lightweight and high strength. The bi-metal cladding material, which synthesizes the advantages of each material consisting of this kind of material under successful designing, can obtain better properties and solve the problem. However there are a few cladding wires known at present due to the difficulties of forming process. By using the method of multi-metal continuous cladding(CONCLAD), which is based on MBE(multi-billet extrusion),C ONFORM(continuous forming) and EXTROLLING(extrusion and rolling), the experimental simulation of bi-metal CONCLAD is studied. The forming limit diagrams during the process of bi-metal CONCLAD are obtained by using numerical simulation. The experimental results of CONCLAD process parameters are discussed. The apparatus of experimental simulation of bi-metal CONCLAD is designed and the difference between experimental simulation and CONCLAD is discussed. The results show that the experimental simulation is feasible. The bi-metal wires with metallurgical interface, such as Pb/Al, Pb/Steel, Zn/Steel, Cu/Steel, Al/Steel, Sn/Steel are obtained. In order to investigate the state of core material deformation in CONCLAD deeply, the method to define the position of neutral point is provided, and the curvilinear diagram between the neutral point and extrusion ration is acquired. The model of pressure distribution in cladding deformation and the model of core wire deformation state arefOunded. The fOrce acting on core wire is analyzed. For making a throughstudy on deformation mechanism, a numerical simulation software fOr thecriterion for the state of core material defOrmation in CONCLAD isindependently developed in this work, and the fOrming Iimit diagramsunder different CONCLAD process parameters are shown by using themethod of theoretical model. The results of these diagrams can be used asthe direction of the CONCLAD process analysis and the other usefulinformation for die design.
