Graft Copolymerization of Cationic Compounds onto Silk FibersI Abstract] Graft copolymerization of cationic compounds onto silk was studied in this paper. Graft copolymerization reaction was operated with the two vinyl cationic compounds DMC and DMDAAC, which have the similar chemical structure, as grafting monomers, using patassium persulfate as initiator. The grafting products were expressed by IR spectrum and analysis of amine acids. The kinetic experiment of silk grafting was done. A suitable mechanism has been proposed and the rate equation has been derived. The influences of reaction temperature, monomer and initiator concentration on Graft copolymerization was exposed by the experiment . In the end, the physical and dying properties of ungrafted and grafted silk fabric were observed in order to explain the effect of grafting. The comparation between DMC and DMDAAC was made in all the experiments.Wang Jianye (Dying and Finishing Engineering)Directed by Chen Guoqiang...
