The pupa protein fiber is a kind of protein fiber and it was made from pupa protein and viscose by wet spinning. The pupa protein fiber has golden appearance with pastel silk-like gloss and smooth handle. It composes of two natural hydrophilic high molecules (protein and cellulose). Therefore the fiber has rose prospect for good moisture and water absorption, comfort and degrading and regenerating ability. But the pupa protein fiber also has some defects, for example, the problem of bleaching, the loss of pupa protein and the yellowing. In order to improve the performance of the pupa protein, we modified the pupa protein fiber with eproxypropyltrimethylammonium chloride (EPTAC).In this paper, we have researched the reaction between pupa protein fiber and the EPTAC, and in order to thoroughly understand the reaction between them, we have chosen the silk and viscose to compare with pupa protein fiber. The factors like the amount of the EPTAC, reaction temperature, reaction time, the reaction pH were researched to demonstrate their effects to this reaction. We also invent a new way toexpress the amount of cation in fiber. That is using the solo SO3" acid dye acid Orange II to dye the modified fiber and compare with unmodified fiber. After the experiment, we find out that the most rapid reaction with EPTAC is silk, the following one is pupa protein fiber, the last one isviscose. In order to express the reaction velocity between pupa protein fiber and EPTAC in molecule way, we choose some molecules which are similar to the components of pupa protein fiber. We research the reaction velocity and reaction active energy between those molecules and EPTAC. Through those experiments, we discover that the reactions of some amino acids are more rapid than the reaction of glucose. In this thesis, we also research the yellowing of silk and pupa protein fiber. We find out that the pupa protein fiber has a big problem that the pupa protein shed out of the fiber when the fabric is placed under the UV.At last other advantages of modified pupa protein fiber are discovered, such as dyeing with no salt or less salt, the percent of fixed active dye, balance curve of dyeing and dyeing velocity. The dyeing ability of modified pupa protein fiber has been improved remarkablely. We also found out that firstly modifying the pupa protein fiber with EPTAC, and then bleaching it. By this way, we get a remarkable white. A theory which is called "fixed points" is given to this phenomenon. Meanwhile, we analysis the amount of the cationic ion and establish the relationshipbetween white and cationic ion.
