The thesis is about the research on the advanced biological process for pharmaceutical wastewater treatment and the bioaugment technology used with special degrading bacteria. A process combined biofilter with sequencing batch reactor (SBR) was used to treat the pharmaceutical wastewater containing the recalcitrant pollutants. The properties of two kinds of biofilter: biotrickling-filter (BF) and upflow-anaerobic-filter (UAF) used in the treatment process were compared. The tolerance for shock loading, the enhancement of the BODs/COD ratio by the filters, the properties of the activatied sludge, the effect of pH on the COD removal efficiency together with adjustification of the operational parameters were discussed. The BF-SBR combined process was proved to be an effective way in pharmaceutical wastewater treatment in the study. The microbes with high degradability to the main pollutants in the wastewater were isolated with target compounds including antibiotics, hetorocyclic compounds and analgesics. The ISOObp of 16SrDNA fragment were amplified from the total DNA of theophyline degrading bacterium, strain Tcn3 , both 16SrDNA sequencing and the traditional identification procedure were used to identify Tcn3. The results showed that strain Tcn3 belongs to Paracoccus versutus in phylogenetic framework of bacterial classification. It was proved that none of the single strain used in the study could completely degrade josamycin except the enrichment cultured, but a Pseudomonas sp.Strain JY2 could degrade the molecular smaller and decrease the liter evidently. Another bacterial strain PI has the high degradability in paracetamolum.By adding the high-effective strains to the combined process, the bioaugmentation system was superior to the original system in COD and pollutants removal efficiency.
