Photocatalytic oxidation technique is a very active field in the catalysisdiscipline in recent years. Under room temperature and pressure reaction conditions,photocatalysis is capable of degrading almost all pollutants using the pollutants themselves or the derivatives from water and air as active oxidants. Compared with traditional technology in the air cleaning, nanometer hotocatalytic technology has any advantages such as low energy consumed, high treatment efficiency, imple processing equipment, operation conditions controlled easily, organic pollutants degraded non-selectively, no secondary pollution etc.Titanium dioxide, as a photocatalyst, is not only nontoxic itself and low-cost, but also has steady chemical properties and high oxidative capability, and can beefficient and consumed rarely. All those make photocatalytic technique high efficient and economical. So it plays an important part in the developingenvironmental coating and enhancing the quality of air, and is widely used in the field of environmental protection.On the basis of discussing source and hammess of environment pollutants,the mechanisms, kinetics and factors of effect of photocatalytic treating environment pollutants were studied on the laboratory scale in this thesis. The photocatalytic experiments were carried out in a glass airproof chamber of 4m3 and a stainless steel airproof chamber of 0.1m3. Nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide and formaldehyde, three kinds of common contaminating gases, were selected as treatment subject. The influence factors on the rate of photocatalytic degradation such as intensity of UV irradiation, humidity and initial mass concentration were investigated in detail. The experimental results indicate that nano TiO2 photocatalytic technology canbe really used to purify air pollution of nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide andformaldehyde. At present, environmental protection attracts more attention, it willplay a significant role in the air cleaning field in the future...
