| Now oil pollution is becoming more and more serious and has become a great threat to environment and human life. So it is necessary to develope oil-absorbing materials having high oil absorbency,useful for treatment of oil spills and wastewater. High oil-absorbing resin,being different from traditional oil-absorbing materials,is a new kind of self-swelling oil-absorbing material with many strong points and brilliant prospects.The high oil-absorbing resin has been prepared by suspension polymerization,using butylmethacrylate as the monomer,N,N'-methylene bisacrylamide as the crosslinking agent,BPO(benzoyl peroxide) as the initiator,PVA(polyvinyl alcohol) as the dispersing agent and water as the disperal phase in this paper. The effects of the amount of the crosslinking agent,the amount of the initiator,the amount of the dispersing agent,the polymerization temperature,the reaction time and the water-oil ratio on the oil-absorption capacities of the resin are investigated. Then the optimum conditions are obtained.The experimental results show that high oil-absorbing resin with high oil absorption and retention,useful for treatment of oil spills and wastewater,can be prepared by suspension polymerization,using butylmethacrylate as the monomer,N,N'-methylene bisacrylamide as the crosslinking agent,BPO as the initiator and PVA as the dispersing agent. The optimum conditions are as follows:the amount of the initiator is 0.6% of the monomer by weight,the amount of the crosslinking agent is 1.6% of the monomer by weight,the amount of the dispersing agent is 3.0% of the monomer by weight,the polymerization temperature is 80,the reaction time is 5 hours and the water-oil ratio is 8 to 1.The high oil-absorbing resin synthesized in this paper has good properties and its oil-absorption can be as high as 40.3g/g for CCl4 and 23.6g/g for toluene. |
