Based on the deep practice and wide collection of literature in this field, the theoretical analysis of the individual hydrocyclone separation was studied, the separation models for hydrocyclone were established, a full-hydrocyclone-network was studied by experiments. The main contents as follows:Firstly, experiments on the application of the hydrocyclones in potato starch separation were investigated in this paper. In the potato separation experiment, the parameters and indexes were decided by the rich experiences and the conditions provided by the reality. Three parameters (diameter of underflow, input pressure and input starch concentration) and four indexes (separation efficiency, feed flow rate, underflow starch concentration and underflow percentage contrast to overflow) were chosen to perform orthogonal experiments. The results of the experiments were displayed by figures and the data were fitted to be curves with Matlab. The characteristics of the index and the value of the optimal parameters of potato starch separation on some conditions were found out.Secondly, there are so many parameters affecting the separation of potato starch. Dealing with the data gained from experiments with similarity theory and applying mathematical method stepwise regression a series of equations can be established. These equations reveal the effect of separating potato starch properly. These equations were also used to predict the performance of separation and provided a foundation for the amplification and optimization of designing of separation operation.Thirdly, the whole network was studied by experiments. With the analysis of the existing network the regulation of the designing of whole system could found out. With the regulation the operation of the whole production can be simplified and we can found out how to control the process.Fourthly, In yam separation experiment a new network was applied. In the experiment the results made clear the suitability of the hydrocyclones and demonstrated whether the Full-hydrocyclone-networks used in potato starch separation is suitable to separate yam starch.
