In this paper, the present development and appliance of the hydrocyclone applied downhole is introduced. In view of the actuality high water cut in Daqing oil field, and combining with the technique feasibility research which we process together with Daqing graduate school of technics of oil extraction, the technics carries through downhole oil/water separation with the equipment of "screw pump + vortex separator". We have performed optimization experiment on the structure of the downhole vortex separator-- it's mainly hydrocyclone here, and the experiment's emphasis is put on the structure of the inlet andlarge conical section.The restriction to the downhole radial space causes that general hydrocyclone can't work down well. Considering the integrative structure of the separator, the inlet where the radial dimension is the maximum is studied first, based on the changing trend of the pressure and separation efficiency of the hydrocyclone when the outer diameter decreases, we try experiment on the inlet of three different interval channels while other parameters are comparable with vortex cells applied in field test. Based on the result of the experiment, it is concluded that the changing trend of the pressure loss and separation effect of the hydrocyclone is different when the inlet of different interval channel is applied. Based on the applying evidence in the oil field, we have optimized and designed the inlet model of the hydrocyclone that is fit for downhole use.Comparing the structure of the general type with the pre-separating type of the hydrocyclone and measuring the liquid velocity in the large conical section of three different large cone angles is confirmed, in which the flow field is stable and the technics of separation is suitable for downhole separation.By performing simulated experiment on the downhole oil/water separation system of indoor test well in which the screw pump is used, the feasibility of downhole oil/water separation and reinjection is confirmed. The result of the experiment, the assembly of the downhole hydrocyclone and some correlative producing technics are introduced.
