Brominated nitro-triphenyl ethers, brominated amido-biphenyl ethers and substituted phenylpropanoic acids are widely used in many fields such as petrochemical industry, medical science, agricultural pesticides, daily chemical products, dyes, etc. It's of value to study the synthesis of them and to optimize the synthetic methods. We've devoted ourselves to it and got a series of important conclusions. In this dissertation, we synthesized 18 halogenated poly-phenyl ethers which was first reported and 4 phenylpropanoic acids through new methods. All the key factors which influenced the reaction had been investigated. The chemical structure of these compounds had been confirmed by the !HNMR MS and IR as well.In the first part we synthesized 6 new brominated dinitro-triphenyl ethers and 6 new dibrominated dinitro-triphenyl ethers in 51%~72% yield. We studied the influence of the ratio of substances, temperature, solvent and catalyst. What we had done was fundamental and necessary for the further .practical use of this kind of compounds. In the second part we synthesized 6 new multi-brominated amido-biphenyl ethers and the yield was from 40% to 59%. We studied the influence of the acidity, solvent and temperature on the reaction. The synthesis of these six multi-brominated amido-biphenyl ethers provide the study base for the further practical use of this kind of compounds in medical intermediates, agricultural pesticides, bactericides and herbicides. In the third part we synthesized 4 phenylpropanoic acids through the Willgerodt-kindler reaction of p-substituted propiophenone with sulfur and morpholine under microwave irradiation. The factors such as the ratio of substances, microwavepower and reaction time had been studied. The results showed that under microwave irradiation the reaction speed was about 20 times higher than that of traditional method and the overall yields were also higher in some degree. The new method is fast, simple and efficient.
