According to requirement of converter's safe operation in metallurgy industry, a supervision and control system based on computer network and digital image processing technique is developed, which works through local area net and controls flame by image analysis and recognizing. The system has three traits: First, Use C/S model network to replace the former system which worked through got-up watch and phone. Any user who get permit could oversee different places in workroom. Second, By powerful digital image processing technique, the system control flame when needed, so it change the case in which log parameter in industrial field occurs. At last, the system has excellent software and hardware supporting surroundings. With computer language Visual C++6.0 , good man-machine conversation interface, multi-thread technique , powerful network function are applied in software. Hardware ensure security and efficiency when system is working. Moreover the supervision and control system will be a part of the whole Pang Steel Works' main computer network.Practically running in Pang Steel Works, the system is stable , credible . The client satisfied with system's real-time net browsing and flame control.This article introduce the development status of supervision system and digital image processing , describe that how to construct a local area network based on Client/Server model. The focus attention in the article is digital image processing technique and how to make a program arithmetic by result of image analysis.The article show how to construct the whole software and hardware sub-system. Finally, some worthy studying questions are given.
