With the rapid development of modern manufacturing, the weakness of traditional CNC system becomes apparent increasingly, such as, compatibility, expandability, inflexible human-machine interfaces and so on, The research of open architecture CNC systems is becoming one of the most important directions of CNC technology. The goal of open architecture CNC system is to build a modular, reconfigurable and expandable architecture of CNC system and make the design and implement of the special machine more rapid and precise with the background of rapidly changed market. In this thesis, some key technology on the design and implement of open architecture CNC system are discussed, including the architecture of open CNC system, the fundamental principle, software modeling, etc. Following are the main work:First, on the basis of analysis on the essence functions, expandability, distribute application of international open CNC projects (mainly on OSACA), the goal and principles of open architecture CNC system is proposed and the open CNC system is divided to three part: Reference Architecture, Communication System, Configuration System. The main software development technology on Windows is studied and the software developing method applying COM technology is proposed. COM technology is used as the Communication System and Configuration System. On this base behavior-based modeling are discussed on the level of object, component and system. At the end of this paper, a system used on a PCB drill press is designed and completed using the GT400-SV motion control card.
