This paper reported a "green" oxidative cleavage of 1,2-cyclohexanediol, 2-hydroxycyclohexanone, cyclohexene oxide with aqueous hydrogen peroxide catalyzed by sodium tungstate dihydrate etc. under acidic condition without any organic solvent and phase transfer catalyst which provides an efficient, simple and clean method for the synthesis of adipic acid. In the meanwhile, we investigated the influences of the amount of the catalyst, the amount of the hydrogen peroxide, the acidity of the solution and the reuse of the catalyst on the reaction, and found the optimum for the reaction.
