Arc-spraying is a kind of surface engineering technology of superior quality, high efficiency, low cost and is fit for industrialization. In this paper, not only current applied situation and meaning and development of Arc-spraying technology on electric power, coal, railroad and so on is discussed but also the principle and characteristics and craft of Arc-spraying technique is simply introduced, and comparing with other thermal-spraying techniques. Now, our country is behind developed countries on research of Arc-spraying technology. When spraying silk-material is the same, because of the difference of the spraying craft, quality of coatings is worse and applied time of coatings is shorter than coatings which is made in developed countries. Therefore, to improving total level of Arc-spraying technology of our country, further research is very important for us. Applying Arc-spraying technology, we have made both the coatings of the pure aluminum and the coatings of Al/Al2O3 powder in experimental studies. Result of contrasting and analyzing microstructure and properties of coatings shows that change of hardness and binding-strength and anti-wheted function of coating have certain regulation along with the variety of spraying distance. Heat treatment also has very big influence to the functions of coatings.
