Wetland Ecology And Studies On Its Application In Water Pollution Control

With the rapid development of industry and the population explosion, people speed up the exploitation pace on nature resoures. Because of the influence of various nature and human factors, the wetland as we called "the kidney of the earth" is decreasing in area, and its ecological function is gradually deteriorating as while. This paper describes the types, functions and the recent status of the wetland in China. In consideration of the national conditions, some advices are given on proper use and conservation of the wetland resources. Based on the on-the-spot investigation of Heyang wetland nature conserve, some countermeasures of management and conservation of the wetland resources are proposed.An elaboration of the constructed wetland application to water pollution control is followed . Through the studies on pollutant removal mechanism in constructed wetland system and the investigation of its application, we can draw a conclusion that wetland treatment system has many advantages, such as low investment, high quality effluent, convenient operation and management, strong resistance to impact, remarkable eco-enviroment efficiency etc. It is indicated that constructed wetland is a suitable technology for our China, especially for the sewage treatment in small city and agricultural non-point source pollution control. It has a broad perspective in application.
