Algae contain abundant secondary metabolites and many of them have good bioactivity. Red algae are an important branch of algae with plentiful bioactive compounds. Study of red algae's component can provide a significant source of new drugs. In this dissertation, the constituents of red algae Galaxaura filamentosa collected from Xisha Islands were studied for the first time. Fourteen compounds were isolated by a combination of extraction and partitionation as well as multi-chro-matography. Twelve compounds' structures of them were identified by spectra. All these compounds were firstly found from this algae and one of them was new compound.Four known compounds have been isolate from the EtoAc- petroleum ether portions. They are: palmitic acid; stearic acid; 5a,8a-epidioxyergosta-6,22-dien-3p-ol; N-(2-hydroxytetracosyl)-l,3,4-trihydroxy-2-amino-octadecan. Their structures were determined by IR, 1NMR, 13CNMR, EEMS, FAB-MS analysis.A new compound has been isolated from 50% EtoAc- petroleum ether portion. Its structure was elucidated as cyclo(-N-Me-Leu1-Leu1-N-Me-Leu2-Leu2-Leu3-) by IR, 1HNMR, 13CNMR, TOF-MS-ES+, TOF-MSMS ES+, HSQC, TOCSY, HMBC and amino acid analysis. During the primary bioassay, it exhibited inhibitory activity to tumor cell lines SWO-38, PC84045 and JEC. The ulterior research of is studying. From the 10% EtoAc- petroleum ether portion a mixture of sterol has been isolated. Based on GC-MS analysis, seven sterol compounds (1~7) were identified.Compound was isolated from the 12% methanol-chloroform portion. Its structure was determining.
