As a kind of water treatment medicament, chlorine dioxide (ClO2) is wildly used in water treatment field because of its excellent functions. Utilizing its strong oxidizability to treat refractory wastewater is one of the primary uses of ClO2 in water treatment.The preparation of catalyst of ClO2 catalytic oxidation, ClO2 chemical oxidation system and ClO2 catalytic oxidation system of Acid Brilliant Scarlet GR and Direct Scarlet were studied in this paper and also optimized two catalyst carriers and two kinds of catalyst carrier. The results showed that 4% dip-liquid , 300℃~350℃ and 2 hours of calcinations were the best preparation conditions for catalysts 2#. The COD removal ratio exceeded 85%, the cost of oxidant removing 1kg COD was 1.78, when treating Direct Scarlet dyestuf f wastewater, the COD of which was 3500mg/L, by ClO2 chemical oxidation; by ClO2 catalytic oxidation the COD removal ratio exceeded 96%, the cost of oxidant removing lkg COD was about ?. 30. The COD removal ratio exceeded 50%, the cost of oxidant removing lkg COD was ?. 65, when treating Direct Scarlet dyestuff wastewater, the COD of which was 3500mg/L, by ClO2 chemical oxidation; by ClO2 catalytic oxidation the COD removal ratio exceeded 80%, the cost of oxidant removing 1kg COD was 3.72.Catalyst life, catalyst recovery and mechanism of ClO2 catalytic oxidation were elementarily developed. The study illuminated that ClO2 catalytic oxidation was an efficient method to treat refractory wastewater and it had a broad prospect.
