Scientists are very interested in negative air ion because it can promote the growth of animals and plants, optimize micro-cycle of organism, kill bacteria and purify air. Although the study of negative ion has been 100-year history, it is still in its primary stage. Experimental equipment is not mature, and evaluating methods are not perfect. In the paper, systematic research of negative ion concentration has been carried out according to 863 project. Moreover, testing method and evaluating method of negative ion have been provided.Negative ion concentration changes evidently with the variation of humidity, temperature and ground radiation intensity. The study paid more attention to temperature and humidity. The results showed that negative ion concentration increases when temperature and humidity rise. Furthermore, the latter is much more visible. And the mechanism was discussed from the microcosmic point.It was proved that experimental sample-a kind of negative ion powder can produce very high negative ion concentration and improved the air quality. The concentration changed with different powder quality and testing distance. The more powder quality, the higher ion concentration; the shorter testing distance, the higher ion concentration. Tourmaline with different chemical ingredients produces different negative ion concentration. The Schorl or Dravite which has strong intensity polarity can produce higher concentration.Negative ion paint that was developed by our team can add some negative ions to circumstance. Through house experiments, different concentration was found at different position in the room which was painted with the paint. The concentration in the room painted this kind of paint is higher than the room painted normal paints.The author tested lots of materials with much equipment, and got the mechanism of negative ion concentration. On the basis of that, testing method and evaluating method were proposed in the paper.Meanwhile, the relation between negative ion concentration and bacteria concentration was studied in the paper. It was found that the higher negative ion, the less bacterial. Material, which has high ion concentration, can kill bacterial efficiently.
