In petroleum chemical industries, there are many vertical pipelines, which are often with relatively large length and diameter. So, in order toreduce the stress of attaching equipments, a kind of bracket that is used tobear is usually applied, but this structure can also generate new stressconcentration areas. In this article, the finite element model of pipeline and bracket aregenerated, by using ANSYS,the finite analysis of pipeline and bracket loaddistribution considering the self-weight of pipeline and bracket arepresented. The results describe the rules of each stress in both pipeline andbracket, and also discuss the relationship of the pipeline and bracketgeometrical dimension and stress distribution. The rule of how geometricaldimension affects the first principal stress and stress intension in bothpipeline and bracket. After a strengthen patch with a circular orifice is applied, the stressdistribution both inside and outside of the pipelines are analyzed. How thediameter and thickness of the strengthen patch affect the pipeline intensionis discussed. The relationship between the first principal stress and stressintension and the geometrical dimension of the strengthen patch is VII北京化工大学硕士学位论文presented. The difference between the two kinds of the strengthen patchthat one is with a circular orifice, the other is not affecting patch isdiscussed. Under the condition of insulation the temperature distribution and theresulting temperature stress distribution in pipeline and bracket arepresented, considering the natural convection between the pipe parts andcircumstance. The difference of the stress distribution of pipeline andbracket under having insulation or not is presented. The rules thatcircumstance temperature affects the stress distribution are also given. Other affecting factors such as element density, stress numerical valueconvergence of stress concentration areas in joints, having welding lines ornot, well-welded or not, are discussed, and the relevant rules are presented, too. The table of usual conjugation between pipeline and bracket isprovided for design.
