Chinese traditional medicine is a kind of cultural treasure in China. Our country is the most ancient and popular country that uses traditional medicine in the world. And also our country is the cradle and delivery of traditional medicine. We have the brilliant future that our country will become an industrial, modern and international country that uses traditional medicine proper well. But now our industrial level for preceding medicine is very low. The components of medicine is unknown is the main problem.The first part is our emphasis, we report chemical constituents, both of organic constituents and inorganic constituents of Chinese traditional medicine named Indigo Naturals, which has never been researched before. Indigo and Indirubin are the main characteristic compounds in this medicine and Indirubin is the main bioactive compound. During the course of investigation on this medicine, ten organic compounds are isolated. By means of spectral methods including MS, UV, IR, HNMR, as well as some chemical reactions, the structure of nine of these compounds are established. Six of them are identified but other three compounds are not because of lack of standard. We also analysis the inorganic constituents. So we know the chemical compounds of this medicine about 95%, this level is quite high all over the world. We also find Indigo has no bioactive effect so that National Standard maybe needs suggestions and amendment. When we study the main characteristic compounds of Indigo Naturals , we find some molecules have rigid plane . First we use quantum chemistry method to analysis two isomer: indigo and indirubin , then we use this method to analysis compounds which are formatted from indoxyl. Therefore we know Hydrogen bonding plays a very important part in maintaining the whole molecular stability . Also Hydrogen bonding is very important in molecular biology. It can effect the curative effect of some medical molecule. It is the reason why we pay so much attention to Hydrogen bonding in molecule found in the medicine which we are researching.Finally the summery concerning property, pharmacology of Indigo Naturals and its developing is reviewed.
