Optimum design of large cone angle thrust tapered roller bearings for rolling mills has been firstly introduced in this paper, together with systematic analysis of bearing internal force, roller contact stress,large rib taper face types and rib strength calculation of inner ring.The optimum design program has been drawn up and the optimum results of general bearings are given. Bearing internal force has been analyzed from engineering application point of view. The force condition on roller in different directions and the component force calculation formulas are given here. Deduction of Hertz linear contact theory has been introduced. Two convexity design methods and convex amount calculation formulas are given for tapered rollers.Advantages and shortages of two kinds of crowned rollers have been analyzed in detail. The structur type and shape of the inner ring large rib face has been analyzed, too. The bottom strength calculation formulas and the deduced formulas of parameters of other design parts are given. Optimum clearance value of this kind of bearings is determinded.Industry verification test of this typical bearing has been carried out and got expected results.
