In this paper five thioacridones corresponding to acridones including different substitution groups were synthesized. The conditions of dehydro - cyclizing reaction and N - alkylating reaction of diphenylamine having substitution group in acridine ring were groped. The structures of intermediates and objective products were confirmed by IR,MS analysis methods. The UV-Visible spectra, emaxand photodecomposition speed constant of each objective product were measured and the photosensitivity of four thioacridones were researched. The results show that in visible light area five kinds of different structure of thioacridones have the maxium absorption wavelength within the range of 483nm~498nm and thereon the absorption wavelength for N - butylthioacridone attains 490nm and conforms to emission wavelength for Argon ion laser. Coefficient of absorption εmax for thioacridones and acridones are more than 104mol-1 * L * cm-1. The different substitution groups which connect with N in the structure of thioacridones can affect initiation effect of photopolymer-ization systems,when the group is propyl or butyl,the sensitivity of the system is high. In order to enhance the sensitivity .the activator must be added in photopolymerization systems. The system in which N -butyl or N -phenyl thioacridone pairs up with thiosalilylic acid and N -propyl orN - benzyl thioacridone is the same with activator indole-3 - acetic acid are good to improve photoinitiating efficiency.This paper supply photosensitive resin type plate for use in laser direct making plate with a new class of photosensitor-thioacridone.The research results of thio paper gave theory an practice data for the computer to plate material so as to depelopment and use.
