Onen architecture control has been becoming the essential requirement for modern CNC system. The development of CNC technique has being influenced vitally by the technological system revolution from the closure technological system to the open architecture. Because of its high-standard configure, rational hardware structure and excellent performance-cost ratio, PC has become the preferred hardware platform for developing CNC system. Developing CNC system on PC hardware platform has become the technological development trend of CNC.To the CNC system based on PC, the software platform adopted has greatly determined the system cost and performance. The real-time multi-task OS is the ideal software flatform for the CNC system based on PC. In this paper, an idea that developing open CNC system based on RTLINUX on PC is proposed. RTLINUX is a code-opening stable real-time muti-task OS. It is favorable for developing effective and low-cost CNC technology and the development of Chinese CNC technology to study RTLINUX application in the CNC system.In this paper, the software structure, hardware structure and concrete implementation method of carving control system based on RTLINUX are introduced. The system adopts the "PC + I/O card" hardware structure. Its all hardware only consists of PC and I/O card, and its software consists of RTLINUX real-time OS and control software. All function of system is realized by the software run on PC. The real-time function is realized in the RTLINUX core and the non-real-time task is achieved in the LINUX core. The communication between the rea-time module and the non-real-time module is achieved by pipeline. Paper shows eventually the development result of carving control system based on RTLINUX, and analyses system performance to aspects of the RTLINUX real-time performance, control software real-time performance and pulse frequency that system can send. System development result shows that RTLINUX system can meet entirely the real-time requisition of control system, and it is feasible absolutely to develop CNC system based on RTLINUX.
