High oil absorption resin is a new kind of self-swelling absorbing high polymer whichhas many virtues, for example it can absorb a variety of oil, it just absorb oil from waterand it has a high capacity for oil retention. Thus it has brilliant prospects. In this paper,the porous polymer microparticle, which could absorb oil in a rapid speed, was synthesized.This paper main included four sections.1. With the acidic catalyzer, the methacrylate was synthesized from methyacrylic acidand alcoholic by direct-esterification. The content of ester was determined by saponificationmethod and spectrophotometric method, the later has the following excellence: rapid andaccurate. Spectrophotometry method could be used during the course of produce and thedetermination rapid. The influence of reaction conditions such as the molar ratio of rawmaterial, quantity of catalyst, reaction temperature, reaction time and quantity of inhibitorwere studied by orthogonal design experiment. The conversion ratio of hexadecanol is over 93%under the optimized reaction conditions. The ester was characterized by gas chromatography.2. The high oil absorption resin had been prepared by suspension polymerization, usingmethacrylate ester and (2-ehtyl hexyl) acrylate as monomer and inert solvent as microvoid agent.The influences of factors on the iol-absorption capacities of the resin were investigated,and then the optimum conditions were obtained. Contrasts to the industrialized product, theabsorbing speed of the resin got obvious increase. After absorbs 6h, the industrialized resincan get saturated state, however, the resin synthesized in this paper only need 0.5h. So theoil absorption resin could be used as an emergency measures when oil spilled.3. The effects of exterior factors, such as solubility parameter of oil, the viscositycoefficient of oil and the temperature of oil on oil absorption properties were studied. Howto regenerate the resin was studied in this paper, there were three regenerative methods,including solvent extraction regenerative method, water vapor distill regenerative method,active agent regenerative method, were investigated. Over 90% by weight oil could be removedfrom the resin by the first and second methods. The third method has not the same effect, whichonly remove oil by 20%. The oil absorbing capacity doesn't change because resin is regenerated.4. Adding the high oil absorption resin into cigarette filter, the effects of the additiveweight, the size, and the fill section of the resin on the content of tar and nicotine werestudied. The tar can be absorbed 19% and the nicotine can be absorbed 17% by the weight when140mg 120~140mush resins were added into filter.
