Spiral bevel gear is one of the basic mechanical units to transmit motion between concurrent axes. Because of the transmission have quite a few merits, such as big overlap ratio, high loading capacity, high transmitting efficiency and stability, low noise and so on. Spiral bevel gears are widely used in automotive vehicle, planes, machine tools and many kinds of machines. With the development of modern industry, precise machinery which runs under the condition of high-speed, great and dynamic load has been constantly appeared, which needs more and more precise spiral bevel gears with the quality of high-speed, low voice and long service life.In order to improve the spiral bevel gear's surface quality, reduce the noise and improve its operating performance and service life, this paper introduces the technology of pulse electrochemical finishing(PECF) into the spiral bevel gears' finishing so as to get the spiral bevel gear with high speed, precise and efficiency. This would be benefit to enhance our countries' manufacturing in international competition and boost the economy.On the basis of studying PECF's basic laws, many experiments are carried out on the 20CrMnTi which has the identical material with spiral bevel gear. First, the direct current is contrasted with pulse current by experiments and the technical parameters are optimized. Then several pulse methods are brought forward to finish different material surfaces. At last, the electrolyte flow field is analyzed. This work is done to validate the feasibility of PECF on the finishing of spiral bevel gear.To meet with the requirement of PECF finishing, pulse power source with high frequency, narrow pulse width and high current is designed. The IGBT is used to be the key device and M57962AL is used to be the driven module, while the protected circuit is designed and the single chip AT89S52 is used to adapt the pulse frequency and duty ratio.According to the machining principle of spiral bevel gear, combining Gleason machine with PECF finishing cylindrical gear, the unfolded cathode for spiral bevel gear's finishing is designed.By improving the frequency and power of the power source, this paper aims to study and apply the PECF technology to a broaden fields.
