This thesis aimed at research on the modification of nano silica and the application to the non- phosphate detergent builder. Acrylic acid and maleic acid copolymer including carboxyl groups; acrylic acid, maleic acid, and acryl amide thercopolymer including carboxyl groups and amide groups were prepared by solution synthesis methods. Copolymers and water glass were mixed together. Nano-silica had been prepared, surface modification had been achieved and the products had been applied to the non-phosphate detergent builder.This thesis discussed the optimized synthesis techniques of different monomers, and confirmed the ratio of monomer, pH, dosage of initator, temperature of reaction and feeding mode etc. Copolymers structure had been tokened by IR; TGA.The influence of different technics on detergent properties had been discussed.In the second part, orgnic-inorgnic compound craftwork had been researched; the influences of polymer dosage, water glass dosage, pH, electrolyte and feeding order on silicon solution stability were discussed. Modified silica was tokened by IR, TEM, XPS, and TGA etc. The results show that the prepared nano silica is amorphous, diameter is 25-45nm, and granul distribution was uniformity. Silica surface electronegavity descendes by polymer's absorption or wrap. Space hinder effect is strengthened, and the stability is increased. Nano silica absorption of polymer dosage is related to polymer's concentration, molecular weight and pH of system. Suspension ability is boosted up, and detergent performance is increased.Nano silica- acrylic copolymer compounding non-phosphate detergent builder prepared in this article was provided with complex properties of inorganic silica and organic acrylic copolymer detergent builder. Nano particales were introduced to detergent builder. The synthetic property of the product was increased greatly because of the synergism of nano effect and organic-inorganic compounding effect, so its application in the future would be very wide. At the same time nano silica was prepared in the polymer system by cheap water glass. It was modified and the granul stability was increased in great scope. Reunite problem was solved to a certainty degree. Absorption of polymer amount was quantificationally tokened.
