As the fundamental industry, mine provide more than 80% industrial raw materials and 95% energy sources in China. In recent years, In recent yeas, mine disasters happen continually and causes large amount of economic loss because of its convergence of jeopardy and high personnel density. However, the technique level, practicability and dependability of the rescue instrument in China are not well enough compared with the overseas advanced appliance. The paper first introduces the features of mine disaster, especially the fire damp explosion, it analyses the characteristics and shortcomings of available mine rescue instruments in China and brings forwards the application as well as the principle of mine-visualizing rescue instrument in detail. Mine-visualizing rescue instrument features an integration of wide band technology and video&audio signal collecting, processing, compressing and synthesis. Rescue workers equipped with the mine-multimedia rescue communication device not interfering with their own tasks, could transmit the visual images of an underground mine disaster in a real time fashion to subaerial rescue headquarter and real time exchange of information is enabled. The audio-visual data of the entire rescue process could be saved and replayed to provide first-hand information for analyzing the cause of the disaster, and hence indispensable for future improvement of the mine construction and management. In addition, the process of underground rescue could also be transmitted instantaneously through internet to experts of mine disaster elsewhere in the country or abroad for consultation.
