The modern Computer Numerical Control (CNC) technology is the foundation of the modern manufactory technology. CNC machine is an essential material means to improve the product quality and the productivity. Reconstruction of machine by using CNC system, which has the characters of low cost and short period, is an efficient means to restitute the machine. And that it can reinforce the old technology index. This means promotes the progress of the manufactory industry, which is adapted to the circumstance of our country. Currently, the domestic automobile industry develops quickly, and sector gear is necessary part of automobile ball recirculating steering gear. So we need efficient and accurate sector gear shaping machine. Because of the shape of sector gear in the steering gear has the characters of variable rate and variable tooth thickness. It is impossible to machining the sector gear of variable rate for the driver of normal machine. So we produce the sector gear only by private CNC machine. Therefore, it is important to study the machining principle and reconstruct the formal sector gear shaping machine.This paper introduces the development of CNC system, and emphasis on the current popular opening CNC system in detail, especially the structure and technology characters of MTC200 System. Through the analyzing about the character of sector gear machining and the principle of ball recirculating steering gear, it is deduced that machining principle and mathematic model of variety of sector gears. The structure and problem of a sector gear shaping machine are illuminated, and the whole reconstruction scheme is putted forward. According to the need of configuration of the formal machine, this paper demonstrates the feasibility of application of MTC200 System. The whole control program PLC program and NC program are redesigned. During the debugging of system, parameters of CNC system are monitored and optimized. According to the result of testing machining, the paper analyzes theerror of machine, and puts forward soft compensatory approach. We get the conclusion that it is feasible of soft compensatory approach.After a period of running , it shows that the reconstructed system has high reliability steady capability and friendly interface. The productive efficiency is improved, and the anticipant target is achieved.
