With the country being turned into city quickly, the city scale being extended continuously, the increasing of people's living level, the yield of the city garbage also are raising year by year. Currently, Hygiene fill, which can reduce consume caused by the garbage open a heap of put bring of environment problem, is the main means to process garbage, but the garbage hygiene fill also bring the new environment problem that Landfill leachate contaminate surface water, groundwater, and soil surrounding the garbage hygiene fill. Landfill leachate is the dirty water which is produced in heap put and fill cover up process because of fermenting and declining the flush of water, the earth's surface water and groundwater's soaking, Landfill leachate is generated as a result of precipitation surface runoff, and infiltration or intrusion of groundwater percolating through a landfill. Leachate contains a large amount of organic matter (both biodegradable carbon and non-biodegradable carbon), ammonia-nitrogen, heavy metals, chlorinated organic and inorganic salts. The leachate production depends on many aspects such as the hydrology of landfill, the soil quality of landfill, the weather and the age of landfill. Since the complex of the leachate there is not perfect technique all over the world till now. The common processes are physical-chemical process and biological treatment process. The physical-chemical process includes coagulation, deposition, adsorption, membrane, advance oxidation and so on. Biological process includes aerobic, anaerobic process and combination of both processes. The physical-chemical process is not affected by the leachate quality and production. It is effective for the non-biodegraded leachate that has a low ratio BOD to COD_Cr, furthermore many advanced oxidation processes such as photochemical and electrochemical process can improve the leachate biodegradability. Biological process is effective for the ammonia-nitrogen (NH3-N) and easy-biodegraded leachate; Furthermore biological process can't lead to second pollution and has low cost. In order to develop low-cost, effective and useful leachate treatment process, with the help of past research experience author study theoretically and practically and put forward coagulation-photochemical combination anaerobic and aerobic leachate treatment technique.Study on treatment of landfill leachate by photodegradation method: The pilot- scale experiment was carried out to investigate the effect of treatment of landfill leachate by light irradiation method. The experimental result shows a 31% and 16% CODcr removal can be attained respectively after 4 hr irradiation by high-pressure mercury lamp and ultraviolet lamp. Light irradiation method has no effect on the NH3-N.Study on treatment of landfill leachate by a coagulation-photooxidation process: In this...
