In modern society, as an important means of special type machining, Wire Electro-discharge Machining technology is used more and more widely especially in mould manufacturing and it has become an important and necessary advanced manufacturing method. However the CNC software made in China for WEDM has defects of tech hysteresis and inconvenience and the import software has poor universality and is hard to use. These conditions have greatly limited the further development of WEDM technology in China, thus the research on CNC software for WEDM is meaningful.In this instance, we began to study the key technology of CNC software for WEDM. The research included the study of graph generation and editing, the interface to other popular CAD software, the incising of letters and images, cutting track generation, CNC coding, file conversion and manufacture simulation etc.We introduced the structure and features of Open Modular Architecture WEDM CNC programming system, and a structure of CNC software for WEDM with OMA conception has been presented. We discussed the total design of WEDM CNC programming system based on the Object Oriented Programming idea, studied the fitting method of a plane curve, used an efficient and stable curve approximating method; studied the planar translations of graphs and arc copulations between curves; discussed the interface technology to popular CAD software; discussed letters and images automatic programming system, and brought out a simple and convenient...
